Barcode Scanner

Most standard USB barcode scanners work as "keyboard emulation" devices — they plug into a USB port and send the scanned barcode as if it was typed on a keyboard. No drivers or special configuration needed.

  1. Plug the scanner into a USB port
The operating system recognizes it automatically (Windows, Mac, Linux).
  2. At the POS screen, click in the product search box
  3. Scan the product barcode
The scanner sends the barcode number, the system searches, and the product is added to the cart instantly.
Wireless scanners: Bluetooth and 2.4GHz wireless scanners work the same way — connect via their USB receiver and they behave identically to wired scanners. Make sure the POS search box is focused before scanning.

Setting Up a Thermal Printer for Receipt Printing

Thermal printers (like Epson TM-T20, Star Micronics, etc.) are used for printing receipts.

  1. Install the printer driver
Download and install the driver from the printer manufacturer's website. Connect via USB or network.
  2. Set as default printer (recommended)
In your operating system's printer settings, set the thermal printer as the default so print jobs go there automatically.
  3. Configure paper size
Thermal receipts are typically 80mm or 58mm wide. In your printer settings, create a custom paper size matching your receipt roll. Set the height to auto/long enough.
  4. Allow browser pop-ups
Receipts open as print pop-ups from the browser. Allow pop-ups for your Stockenzo URL in your browser settings to prevent them being blocked.
  5. Test print
Complete a test sale and click Print Receipt. Adjust margins in the browser print dialog if the receipt is not aligned correctly.

Barcode / Label Printer

For printing product labels and barcode stickers, use a dedicated label printer (e.g. Zebra, Dymo, TSC). Setup:

  1. Install label printer driver from the manufacturer's website
  2. 2Configure label size in Stockenzo
Go to Settings → Barcode Settings. Create a new barcode setting matching your label dimensions (width × height in mm or inches). Set margins to 0 or very small values.
  3. Test from Products → Print Labels
Select a product, choose your label template, and print. In the browser print dialog, select your label printer and matching paper size. Disable headers/footers and set margins to none.

Setting Up Cash Drawer (Automatic Open)

Most cash drawers connect to the receipt printer and open automatically when the printer receives a specific signal after a sale.

  1. Connect the cash drawer to your receipt printer
Usually via an RJ11 or DK port on the back of the printer.
  2. In Stockenzo, go to Settings → POS Settings
  3. 3Enable "Open Cash Drawer"
This sends the printer's cash drawer kick command after each sale.
  4. 4Test: Complete a sale and print a receipt — the drawer should open automatically when printing starts.
The automatic cash drawer open only works when you print a receipt. If you finalize a sale without printing, the drawer will not open. You can also open it manually by pressing the release button on the drawer itself.

Label Weighing Scale

For businesses selling by weight (deli, grocery, produce), connect a weighing scale that supports label printing. Compatible scales can send the weight directly to Stockenzo via a serial or USB connection. Configure the scale settings under Settings → Barcode Settings → Weighing Scale. Enter the scale's port and communication settings. Once connected, the POS screen will read the weight automatically when an item is placed on the scale.
